POSITION: Assistant Professor of Photography, Department of Art & Art History, one-year full-time. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits competitive. Position to begin August 16, 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS: MFA or equivalent advanced degree. Required expertise in one or more of the following areas: Color Photography Theory; Studio Lighting for Object and Portrait Photography; Historic and Contemporary Trends in Fine Art Photography; Digital Image Manipulation. Previous teaching experience and exhibit record highly desirable.
DUTIES: Teaching responsibilities will include courses in Photography within an active Studio Art Program offering BA, BFA, and MFA degrees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Dean at the Art Institute of Boston, at Lesley University, the successful candidate is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the academic departments of the school; for developing and communicating an academic vision and long range academic planning together with the Dean and Department Chairs; planning and implementing academic policies, procedures and systems; and managing faculty personnel procedures, committee assignments and workloads. The successful candidate is the primary college leader with regard to accreditation and the assessment and evaluation of academic programs. The incumbent supervises the Academic Program Manager, and is responsible for the overall management of the academic affairs office, including all activities and records involving curriculum, academic programs, and faculty. Supervises Academic Department Chairs and MFA Director, along with AIB’s Director of Academic Computing; coordinates AIB academic programs both internally and with other departments throughout the University. Represents Department Chairs, and makes recommendations regarding academic programs to the Dean, Provost, and other University administrators. Collaborates in the management of academic department budgets with the Assistant Dean for Administration and Department Chairs. The successful candidate will receive a Faculty contract and teaches courses as assigned. This position is located at 700 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

A terminal degree and significant experience in higher education. The Senior Associate Dean should qualify for academic rank as an Associate Professor or higher. A strong background of college-level teaching in the visual arts is essential. Three plus years of successful administrative experience is required. Supervisory experience as a Department Chair or higher is required. A record of current and past scholarly and professional activity. Excellent managerial and administrative skills; able to direct staff, set priorities and analyze data. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills; a record of strong and consistent collaboration with faculty, administrators, staff and students.

JOB POSTING: PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Program Director implements and manages the work plan developed by the members of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW).  The Program Director  serves as the sole staff person for the MCSW and supervises all volunteers and interns. The Program Director reports directly to the MCSW Chairperson.

Responsibilities:

1- Directs the implementation of MCSW developed programs and policies.

2- Assists in developing the MCSW goals and objectives, manages and coordinates the office and the budget and other program components.

3- Recruits, trains, manages and evaluates the work of interns and volunteers.

4- Coordinates research projects to develop and maintain public advocacy for women’s issues.

5- Works closely with the full Commission to develop and implement long-term fundraising strategies and grant application.

6- Works with the commissioners to help coordinate advocacy efforts on Commission approved legislation.

7- Works with commissioners to conduct regional hearings and outreach activities.

8- Assists with Commission publications.

9- Oversees and maintains the MCSW website content and communications which includes the Mass Women’s Information Network.

10- Networks and develops collaborations with other groups concerned with women’s issues.

11- Prepares Annual Report for submission to Appointing Authorities.

12- Facilitates on-going communication with MCSW’s Appointing Authorities to keep them advised on MCSW activities, goals and accomplishments.

Preferred Qualifications:

1- Familiarity working with women’s issues and public policy.  Experience with and understanding of the legislative process and state government.

2- Demonstrated writing, grant writing/fundraising and office management experience.

3- Knowledge of public relations principles and practices.

4- Management experience with background in administration of a program or an office.

5- Proven effectiveness in managing programs, budgets, contracts, staff, interns and volunteers.

6- Demonstrated computer literacy and working knowledge of excel

7- Ability to build positive working relationships with 19 commissioners, as individuals and as a group.

Salary & Benefits: Mid-forties / Commensurate with experience.

CAREER ADVISORY ROUNDTABLES

CAREER ADVISORY ROUNDTABLES

ArtTable Career Advisory Roundtables will be held in conjunction with the College Art Association at the Annual Conference on February 27, 2009 from 12:30-2:00pm in the West Hall Meeting Room 512, Level 2 of the Los Angeles Convention Center. This is a free session, and registration for the conference is not required.

Students and young professionals in Arts Administration, Museum Studies, and Art History programs are invited to participate in discussions regarding careers in the arts, hosted by ArtTable members from different spectrums of the arts community. Speakers will host a roundtable focusing on one of the following areas: Museum/ Non-Profit Directorship, Gallery, Curatorial, Art Education, Appraisal, Education, and Conservation. It is ArtTable’s hope that our roundtable program will allow students the opportunity to learn more about the variety of careers available to them in the arts.

There will be five roundtables at each of two sessions with one or two mentors per table, who will, after briefly introducing themselves, allow students to ask questions about their particular field.

Students will be asked to register in advance and to select preferred tables for both session one and session two.
